Taylor Swift Donates $100K to Family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan

Taylor Swift has made a generous donation to the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a mother and radio host who lost her life in a mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory parade earlier this week.

Just before taking to the stage in Melbourne for the first show of her Eras Tour, Taylor made two donations of $50,000 to a GoFundMe set up to support Lisa’s loved ones. The gift was accompanied by a message of support from the superstar too:

“Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift.”

A representative for Taylor has confirmed to Variety that the two donations are indeed legitimate.

According to the fundraising page, “Lisa was celebrating the Chiefs’ Super Bowl Victory parade when senselessly killed. She is survived by two children and her husband of 22 years. She wasn an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to so many.” It added that, “this fund will help provide vital financial support to her family as they process this unthinkable tragedy.”

It’s understood Lisa’s son Marc was among 22 others who were injured that day, but he has now been released from hospital.

The GoFundMe had aimed to raise $75,000 for the Lopez-Galvan family but has now reached well over double that amount.

According to police, three people including two minors were detained following the shooting. One person has since been released while two teens remain in custody.

Lisa is being remembered as a passionate advocate for Latino talent, amplifying their voices on her local radio show.

“She went to bat for people and tried to help push their music to other stations as well,” Kelly Dougherty from KKFI (where Lisa worked) said to USA Today

As for Taylor, she’s currently brought Swiftie fever to Australia after touring Japan and making a quick stop in Las Vegas to watch her partner, NFL star Travis Kelce, play in the Super Bowl.

Her first show at the Melbourne Cricket Ground this evening has attracted 96,000 people which is the largest crowd she’s ever played to throughout her career! She’ll be heading to Sydney next week.
