Detroit Food Bank Thanks Taylor Swift For Generous Donation

We’ve all heard the sweet stories about Taylor Swift spreading kindness on stage during her Eras Tour, but did you know it’s also happening off stage?

The superstar, who recently performed at Detroit’s Ford Field, has made a generous donation to a local food bank to support families dealing with food insecurity.

The Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan shared the news on their Facebook page last Friday, thanking Taylor for her kindness:

“No matter what happens in life, be good to people,” they wrote, sharing one of Taylor’s famous quotes.

“These words ring true today with Taylor’s surprise donation to Gleaners during her #TSTheErasTour stop in Detroit. Thank you for making an impact & empowering kids and families with nutritious food!”

The amount donated hasn’t been disclosed, however Kristin Sokul, a rep for Gleaners, has since told the Detroit Free Press that Taylor’s gift “comes at such a critical time for so many emergency food providers – when resources are down and need is up.”

The food bank provides meals to 400 partner soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, schools and other agencies in the Detroit area. According to their website, Gleaners provided 47 million pounds of food to people in need in 2022.

The donation came ahead of Taylor ‘s two-night stop in the city – and yes, she had an absolute blast!

“Ahhhhh Detroit that was so much fun!!” she tweeted after the show. “Thanks to those crowds this weekend for your endless energy and extremely loud scream-singing, you made us feel right at home.”

This isn’t the first time Taylor has given back to the community during her Eras Tour. In April, she donated over 125,000 meals to Feeding Tampa Bay. Before that, she made donations to Three Square in Nevada and the Arizona Food Bank Network.

And these are just the ones we know about because the charities themselves have chosen to make the donations public. Wonder how many others there may be?
