TikTok stars Charli and Dixie D’Amelio have teamed up with UNICEF to spread a message about being kind and safe on the internet. And we’re totally here for it!

The dancing sisters who found sudden fame after joining the social media platform and have had some amazing opportunities come their way – like dancing alongside J-Lo – have also been dealing with relentless bullying, body-shaming and online hate.

“Social media has changed my life,” Dixie writes in an Insta post, “it’s been amazing but also made me realise that we need to show each other more empathy.”

“Being bullied online is hurtful and also seeing my little sister go through it is hard,” she adds.

And it seems Charli is the one who gets the most hate:

“I’m still a 15-year-old teenager,” Charli says in a UNICEF video for #SaferInternetDay.

“Getting hundreds of thousands of hate comments per week, is a lot to handle.”

But they have each other and loving parents and at the end of the day, it seems that’s what keeps them going.

“Throughout the years I’ve realised that holding it in causes a lot more damage than being able to tell someone you trust,” Charli explains. “My family’s my support team.”
