Bindi & Robert Irwin Share Loving Messages For Late Dad on Steve Irwin Day

It’s November 15th and that means it’s Steve Irwin Day, an international event honouring the life and legacy of the late conservationist, wildlife warrior, husband and father, Steve Irwin.

To mark the occasion, Steve’s children and fellow wildlife warriors Bindi and Robert have taken to social media with loving messages for their late dad:

“Thinking a lot about my Dad today and the impact that he made on our planet, inspiring an entire generation,” Robert posted along with a throwback with his dad and sister.

“I also think about what a truly amazing dad he was. Through a lifetime captured on camera and stories from my family and those who knew him best, I’m able to remember the special times with dad,” he continues.

“I still look up to him every day and while I miss him so much, it means the world to me and my family that each year we can have a day for the world to celebrate what he stood for.”

Bindi shared a short but equally moving message on her Instagram:

“Your legacy will live on forever. I love you for even longer. November 15, Steve Irwin Day,” she captioned a pic of her as a child sitting in her dad’s lap, smiling.

Steve passed away in 2006 after being attacked by a stingray during filming for a documentary series.  He was 44.

His passion for wildlife and conservation lives on through his children and wife, Terri, and their work at Australia Zoo and the foundation he helped set up, Wildlife Warriors Worldwide.
