Burt Young, the actor best known for playing Paulie in the Rocky films, has passed away.
His daughter Anne Morea Steingieser confirmed the sad news to the New York Times. No cause of death was shared.
Sylvester Stallone, who starred in and wrote the iconic films, took to social media to remember the man who so famously portrayed his best friend and brother-in-law:
“To my Dear Friend, BURT YOUNG, you were an incredible man’s [sic] and artist. I and the World will miss you very much… RIP.”

A number of Young’s famous friends also shared tributes for the late actor on social media.
The Brady Bunch star Maureen McCormick described him as “a great actor and a sweetheart of a man.”
Actor Diane Franklin who played Young’s onscreen daughter in Amityville II: The Possession wrote: “He was a beautiful, funny, talented man, with a deep soul. He will be deeply missed
During his career, Young appeared in over 150 films and TV shows including Mickey Blue Eyes, Once Upon A Time in America, M*A*S*H, Chinatown and more.
He was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role as Paulie Pennino in the original Rocky film, released in 1976. He went on to star in six of the movies, becoming a household name for Rocky fans around the world.
Young was 83 years old.
