Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo and Netflix star Georgina Rodríguez have announced the passing of their newborn son.
Ronaldo, who revealed last year that he and Georgina were expecting twins, shared the sad news in a joint statement on his Instagram account:
“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel,” the message begins.
“Only the brith of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time.”
Manchester United, where Ronaldo is currently signed, shared a message on Twitter writing: “Your pain is our pain, Cristiano. Sending love and strength to you and the family at this time.”
Georgina and Ronaldo share 4-year-old daughter Alana and also part of the family are Ronaldo’s three other children, 10-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo Jr and 4-year-old twins Eva and Mateo.
