Cyndi Lauper is mourning the loss of her dear mother, Catrine.
The music icon shared the sad news on her social media today along with a message of love for the woman who raised her:
“My beautiful Mom has passed. She rocked and wrestled with us and was in a lot of my videos. It was an honor to work with her,” Cyndi’s message begins.
“I feel so lucky that I got to play with my mom throughout my life, both as a girl and as a woman. She may have left this world, but not without leaving her mark. Thank you, Mom. I love you.”
Cyndi shared two photos of Catrine on her music sets including a black and white one of the two of them together in her iconic “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” clip.
In an interview with AARP Magazine in 2016, Cyndi shared that her mother was living with dementia.
Catrine would’ve turned 92 in September.
