Fergie is sharing words of deep love and gratitude for her father, John Patrick Ferguson, after he passed away in late August.

The musician tells her 4.7 million fans on Instagram that his death has “hit harder and deeper than anything” she’s ever felt before.

“You were the best dad a girl could ever ask for. Your spirit was a pillar of positivity. I miss your smiling face, and you waking up and saying, ‘I feel great! I’m excited for the day!’ I still hear you every morning.”

She didn’t go into details about his cause of death, but she did share a series of photos including a stunning black and white one of John as a young man, along with some moments from her childhood with him.

In her post, Fergie praises her dad for being both a coach and a teacher, the one who fired her up to be “ambitious and competitive” while still remembering to enjoy the journey and live in the present.

In 2006, they founded a boutique winery together called Ferguson Crest. And she often shared photos of him on social media.

“I feel you every time I watch an NFL game, have a beer at Mavericks, and hear a Rolling Stones song. I see you waving at me every time the wind his the trees. I love you Dad,” she ends her message.

The Black Eyed Peas’ Taboo shared his condolences for his friend and former band mate:

“Fergie, our  hearts are heavy still for a minute since we first found out the news…we will always have love and memories of your amazing dad and you and your family.”
