“Friends” Cast Share Words of Love For Late Actor James Michael Tyler

The cast of Friends are remembering the seventh member of their iconic group, James Michael Tyler.

The actor who played Gunther, the awkward but hilarious Rachel Green-obsessed manager of Central Perk on the hit series, has passed away at the age of 59 after battling cancer.

Jennifer Aniston was the first to share her love, taking to Instagram to post a clip of the moment Gunther expresses his love for Rachel. She captioned the video saying, “Friends would not have been the same without you. Thank you for the laughter you brought to the show and to all of our lives. You will be so missed #JamesMichaelTyler.”

Jen ended her message with a red broken heart emoji.

Courteney Cox also shared kind words about Tyler on her socials:

“The size of gratitude you brought into the room and showed every day on set is the size of gratitude I hold for having known you. Rest in peace James.”

Matt LeBlanc shared a photo of them on set, captioning it: “We had a lot of laughs buddy. You will be missed. RIP my friend.”

And Lisa Kudrow posted a short message saying, “we will miss you. Thank you for being there for us all.”

Earlier, Tyler’s family shared a message through his manager  Toni Benson with TMZ, which read:

“The world knew him as Gunther (the seventh ‘Friend’), from the hit series Friends, but Michael’s loved ones knew him as an actor, musician, cancer-awareness advocate, and loving husband. Michael loved live music, cheering on his Clemson Tigers, and would often find himself in fun and unplanned adventures. If you met him once you made a friend for life.”

He was 59.
