Greta Gerwig Reveals She Welcomed a Baby Boy Months Ago!

While Barbie director Greta Gerwig was creating the most highly-anticipated movie of the year and going on the most epic world press tour ever, she was also quietly adjusting to a new little human in her life!

In an interview with Elle U.K. covering Greta’s professional and creative journey behind Barbie, the filmmaker has revealed that somewhere in between all the writing, directing and imagining a plastic, fantastic world, she and partner, writer Noah Baumbach welcomed another baby boy. And it all happened at least four months ago!

She describes their new addition as “a little Schmoo” and “wise little baby” who, fortunately, sleeps very well:

“The little guy is sleeping through the night. But I’m still doing that thing where I wake up, every hour to 90 minutes, and just hover.”

Greta and Noah are already parents to 4-year-old son Harold, and Noah has a 13-year-old son, Rohmer, from his previous relationship too.

The Oscar-nominated director of Lady Bird first announced she was expecting again during an appearance on The Tonight Show in December last year where she told host Jimmy Fallon that she was “with child”. She hilariously added that she’d walked red carpets with an obvious baby belly but no one seemed to notice…

“It didn’t get reported on.”

Greta’s other baby, the Barbie film starring Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera and Issa Rae, was released this week following a worldwide press tour through Los Angeles, London, Sydney, Seoul and more – and so far, so good. The movie currently has an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is being praised by critics for the clever way it pokes fun at the patriarchy and the unrealistic standards Barbie, the doll, perpetuates in the real world. Also, Ryan Gosling and his ken-ergy make quite the impression…
