Dancing duo Hayley Erbert and Derek Hough are married!
The couple has confirmed their sweet news to People revealing they tied the knot over the weekend, surrounded by nature and loved ones in Monterey County, California.
“We’re in a redwood forest, but what we got married right in front of is this mother tree that’s surrounded by all these smaller trees,” Hayley tells the publication. “They drop all the seeds, and it plants kind of like an army of children to protect the mother. The symbolism of it was beautiful. We’re here, planting our seeds to grow our family.”
Hayley wore a custom gown by Georgina Chapman for the ceremony but the party actually started a few days earlier. Festivities were held at an estate in Carmel, which Derek said was “like a fairytale”, followed by a rehearsal dinner with their family and friends, and a reception held in a 100-year-old barn. As for their first dance as husband and wife, the Dancing With The Stars alums previously revealed they would be avoiding a choreographed number. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Derek said, “I think everybody’s expecting us to do a performance and a dance… but that’s the thing. If we perform, we go on stage, we dance, we do things. So for us, it feels more special for us to not perform. To be on the floor with each other, to listen to music and just be in the moment.”
Derek and Hayley, who’ve been together for more than seven years, announced they were engaged in June last year. The couple posted photos of the romantic proposal on Instagram featuring a room decorated with flowers and giant candles. Derek is holding Haley up in the photo while her legs wrap around his waist. The two of them are simply looking into each others’ eyes. *Sigh*
