Award-winning actor, model and 60s icon, Raquel Welch, has passed away.
Her manager, Steve Sauer, confirmed the news in a statement to the press, revealing she died peacefully early on Wednesday morning after “a brief illness”. No further details have been shared.
Raquel’s career spanned more than five decades – she had roles in over 50 TV shows (will never forget that episode of ‘Seinfeld’!) and starred in more than 30 films including ‘One Million Years BC’ (which shot her to international stardom), ‘Fantastic Voyage’ and The Three Musketeers’ for which she won a Best Actress Golden Globe.
In 2001, Raquel (whose father was Bolivian), was awarded the Imagen Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award for positively promoting her Latina heritage throughout her career.
She was 82.
