Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson has shared some happy news – he and husband, lawyer/producer Justin Mikita are expecting baby No. 2!
In a video on Instagram, Jesse says they’re both “so excited” for their 22-month-old son Beckett to have a sibling: “Our growing family will be a family of four later this fall!”
Jesse used the baby announcement to also shine a light on the issues of gun reform, reproductive rights and trans rights:
“Like the majority of people in this country right now, we are heartbroken at the attacks all over the country – from senseless gun violence to state by state attacks on our transgender family and an onslaught of attacks on women’s reproductive health.”

He explained that Prounoun.org, the nonprofit he created with Justin would be partnering with MiliMili, a female-owned small business, to create a custom collection of baby products with proceeds going to organisations working to improve these issues. The couple has also made $75,000 worth of donations – $25,000 to each of the American Civil Liberties Union, the National Abortion Federation and Everytown for Gun Safety.
“We are so excited to have a little one joining our growing family – and so proud to support the choice to do it,” Jesse ends his video, while also thanking the doctors involved in the process.
“We wouldn’t be here without you!”
