Priscilla Presley has shared a short statement on social media, a day after a public memorial service was held for her daughter, musician Lisa Marie Presley.
In a post on Twitter, Priscilla expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of love and support:
“Thank you all for your condolences, you have touched me with your words,” Priscilla begins.
“It has been a very difficult time but just knowing your love is out there makes a difference.”
Lisa Marie passed away on January 14 after being rushed to hospital suffering a cardiac arrest. Her body was laid to rest beside her son, Benjamin Keough, at Graceland, the estate in Memphis, Tennessee she inherited from her famous father Elvis Presley.
During yesterday’s public memorial service, words of love were shared by Priscilla as well as Lisa Marie’s good friend, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, who revealed the pair endearingly called each other “sissy.”
Son-in-law Ben Smith-Petersen also spoke on behalf of his wife, Lisa-Marie’s daughter, Riley Keough:
“I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me, the way you loved my brother and my sisters. Thank you for giving me strength, my heart, my empathy, my courage, my sense of humous, my manners, my temper, my wildness, my tenacity. I’m a product of your heart, my brother is a product of your heart.”
It had not been made public until now that Riley and Ben had a daughter.
Alanis Morisette, Axl Rose and Billy Corgan performed at the service.
