Grammy-winning rapper and hip hop star Coolio has passed away.
His long-time manager Jarel Posey confirmed the sad news to Variety, explaining the musician was at a friends house in Los Angeles when he died. No further details have been released at this stage.
Coolio rose to fame in the 90s and became a global sensation in 1995 after recording the hit song “Gangsta’s Paradise” for the movie Dangerous Minds starring Michelle Pfeiffer.
According to his IMDB profile, he was also a producer and actor who appeared in dozens of TV shows including The Nanny, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Charmed.
In 2009, he ventured into the world of food releasing his first cookbook, Cookin’ with Coolio.
He was 59.
