Marielle and younger sister Alana are the daughters of Mohamed Hadid’s first marriage to Mary Butler, making them half-sisters to Gigi, Bella and Anwar.
Alana also shared an adorable throwback and some beautiful words about sisterhood:

“Happy birthday to my protector, my best friend, my beautiful sister and the most amazing mother @mariellemama. Life wouldn’t be the same without you,” Alana writes.
“Through good times and bad times you held my hand, shielded me and counselled me. You’ve sat at my bedside, made me soup, made me laugh and cry. I do not know what life would be like without you and although as sisters we aren’t always aware, you’re not just my best friend by blood, you are just my best friend because I wouldn’t want it to be anyone else,” she continues.
“Happy birthday to the funniest, most intelligent, shining bright, lead sister I could ask for. I carry you with me, I carry your heart in my heart.”
