The divine Viola Davis is celebrating her birthday with a beautiful message about acknowledging and owning who she is.
The award-winning actress, philanthropist and businesswoman who’s now 55 years young, has shared a photo on social media of the run-down home in South Carolina where she lived during the 60s.
“It is the birthplace of my story,” she captions the image of the structure which was once part of a slave plantation.
“Today on my 55th year of life…I own it…all of it,” she adds, referring to how she has embraced her beginnings.
Clarifying the headlines which claim she’s now purchased the home, Viola wrote in the comments, ” I do not ‘own’ above house. I ‘own’ my STORY!! Too abstract I guess.”
Her words clearly resonated with businesswoman and mother of Beyoncé, Tina Knowles who commented: “Yes, it is so freeing to embrace the place where you grew up, knowing it helped to create the person you are today.”
