Yara Shahidi is celebrating another trip around the sun!

The actress, activist and model turned the big 2-1 on the 10th of February and the messages her parents and siblings are sharing with the world online are so beautiful and so touching, it explains exactly why Yara is the incredible, compassionate, loving human that she is.

Let’s start with her mum Keri who posted a candid photo on Insta of Yara smiling and captioned it:

“I had never prayed so often or wished so deeply for a GIFT I knew would be more than I could ever imagine. You whispered your desires into my heart as we waited for you to arrive, and from that moment, 21 years ago, I have been overwhelmed by the honour of knowing you.”

Melting yet? It gets better.

“Yara, you are literally poetry in motion, I pray that you feel your part of causing the sun to rise and continue to find joy in your journey as you move into these next moments. You constantly elevate to the level of your purpose and teach me, through our syncopated heartbeats, to continue revelling in mine. I am truly overwhelmed by the honour.”

Ok take a few seconds to re-compose because her dad’s message is just as moving.

“21 years ago @chocolatemommyluv and I thought about writing a poem together,” Afshin Shahidi begins.

“We weren’t sure what words we would use or even exactly what it would be about, but we had an idea, thought of a name and were divinely inspired. Little did we know that our poem would blossom into a flower and then grow wings and become a butterfly, writing her own sonnets and weaving her own verses,” he continues.

“What a blessing it’s been to see you take flight Yara, to watch you move with purpose, compassion and strength. Even though I miss my little butterfly, I’m in awe of the young lady you’ve become. Happy 21 @yarashahidi.”

Puddle. Of. Tears.

He ends with “tavalodet mobarak” which means happy birthday in Farsi.

Little bros Sayeed and Ehsan also shared the love.

17-year-old Sayeed writes: “To my officially grown grown big sister, happy 21st. I whole heartedly do not know what I’d do without you and to say that I’m grateful for you would be an insane understatement. You are a light in this world and I am so blessed to have you as my big sister.”

12-year-old Ehsan says “u are an amazing friend, teacher, and overall sibling!! I love you so much and I can’t wait to spend this day with u!!”
