Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott are sharing some happy news with the world – they’re engaged!
The beloved actor and Property Brothers host announced it all in a joint post on Instagram. They shared a photo of the two of them smiling together, with Zooey holding up her hand displaying a sparkling flower-shaped engagement ring set with purple stones.

“Forever starts now,” they captioned their post along with an eternity symbol.
The couple also confirmed their news to People, revealing Jonathan popped the question during a family holiday in Scotland with Zooey’s two children from a previous relationship, 8-year-old Elsie and 6-year-old Charlie.

Zooey and Jonathan have been dating for about four years now and they’re meeting story is a seriously awesome one! You see, they first crossed paths in 2019 while filming an episode of James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke with their famous siblings, Jonathan’s brother Drew who also hosts Property Brothers, and Zooey’s sister Emily who is also an accomplished actor.
Jonathan later admitted on the At Home podcast that he’d been flirting a lot with Zooey that day. And, rather hilariously, while he thought he was “playing it cool”, the show’s producers did not – they had to edit a bunch of scenes because of all the flirting!
Lol.
Since going Instagram official in October 2019, they’ve both been open about their love for each other. On August 5 of this year, Zooey celebrated their 4-year dating anniversary: “4 years since I met this freaking dreamboat,” she captioned the post. “I love him more every day. I’m forever grateful!”
And he responded with an equally heart-melting comment: “You make me immensely happy. Every second of every day. I love the heck out of you.”
We love the heck out of both of them too!
