An All-Star Voice Cast Announced for the Upcoming “Super Mario Bros” Animated Film

Nintendo game director and designer Shigeru Miyamoto has made a surprise appearance at a Nintendo Direct event to give gamers an update about the upcoming “Super Mario Bros” movie.

The animated film which is being developed in partnership with Illumination Studios (who are behind some mega movies like Minions: The Rise of Gru and Teen Titans Go!) will be released at the end of 2022 in North America with international dates still to come.

But it’s the epic voice cast everyone’s talking about!

The film has secured Chris Pratt in the lead role of our favourite moustachioed plumber, Mario…

Charlie Day will voice his brother Luigi….

Anya Taylor-Joy will play Princess Peach…

Jack Black will voice Bowser…

Seth Rogen will be Donkey Kong…

Keegan-Michael Key will voice Toad….

Fred Armison will play Cranky Kong…

Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek…

and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.

You see? Epic!

There will also be some cameos by Charles Martinet who’s been the original voice actor for Mario in the video game series since the 90s!

You might remember, we have already had a live-action Super Mario Bros that came out in 1993 starring Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo as Mario and Luigi. This new one is entirely animated though – and one we’re definitely powering up for!
