Angelina Jolie will be returning to our screens in a biopic about legendary opera singer Maria Callas.
The film, titled Maria, will be written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight and directed by acclaimed Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín. The duo last worked together on Spencer, the drama about Princess Diana
Maria will “tell the tumultuous, beautiful and tragic story of the life of the world’s greatest opera singer, relived and re-imagined during her final days in 1970s Paris,” according to the official logline.
“I take very seriously the responsibility to Maria’s life and legacy,” Angelina shared in a statement (as per The Guardian).
“I will give all I can to meet the challenge. Pablo Larraín is a director I have long admired. To be allowed the chance to tell more of Maria’s story with him and with a script by Steven Knight, is a dream.”
We last saw Angelina in Marvel’s Eternals and thriller Those Who Wish Me Dead.
