Mena Massoud has a big, new project in the works!
The Aladdin star will portray British boxer Naseem Hamed (a.k.a Prince Naseem) in the upcoming biopic, Giant.
“Lot of work ahead to do the legend justice,” Mena shared in a post on Twitter.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rowan Athale who directed 2012’s Wasteland will both write and direct the film, which will focus on Prince Naseem’s “rags-to-riches” story from his childhood as the son of working-class Yemeni immigrants in Yorkshire, to athlete and international superstar.
House of the Dragon’s Paddy Considine will also star in the biopic as boxing trainer, Brendan Ingle.
Prince Naseem held multiple featherweight world titles during his decade-long career, pushed through Islamophobia and racism and made headlines around the world with his flashy ring entrances – like that time he re-created Michael Jackson’s Thriller clip!
The film is being made with Sylvester Stallone’s Balboa Productions. No word on a release date just yet.
