The New ‘Wonka’ Trailer is Here!

Warner Bros. has released a new Wonka trailer, giving us another look at Timothée Chalamet in the title role – and his glorious chocolate universe!

This second clip shares a glimpse of the eccentric mogul from Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, in his youth, revealing his wild inventions to the world.

“You see, I’m something of a magician. Prepare to be amazed!” he says in the video.

The story takes place before Wonka opens his extraordinary factory, and meets the Oompa-Loompas for the first time. The trailer also highlights the star-studded cast of Olivia Colman, Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Grant and many more.

“Based on the extraordinary character at the centre of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Roald Dahl’s most iconic children’s book and one of the best-selling children’s books of all time, Wonka tells the wondrous story of how the world’s greatest inventor, magician and chocolate-maker became the beloved Willy Wonka we know today,” the synopsis reads.

The movie, directed by BAFTA nominee Paul King (who was behind Paddington and The Mighty Boosh), will be released on December 14, 2023.

Wonka’s character has been played in the past by Gene Wilder (in 1971) and Johnny Depp (in 2005). This will be the first time a movie explores his youth and the lead up to his chocolate empire!
