According to the website, casting directors are looking for someone between the ages of 15 to 17 with Chinese or mixed-race Chinese heritage, who is “smart, scrappy and a skilled martial artist.” No acting experience is required but some martial arts and gymnastics skills would help!
While plot details are still under wraps, Ralph will reprise his role as Daniel LaRusso, who also appears in Netflix’s hugely successful Cobra Kai series. Meanwhile, Jackie will return as Mr. Han, a kung fu master based on the beloved Mr. Miyagi (portrayed by the late Pat Morita), who served as coach for Dre Parker (portrayed by Jaden Smith) in the later Karate Kid instalment.
This will be the sixth film in the Karate Kid franchise and the first time Ralph and Jackie will appear together. It’s due for release on December 13, 2024.
