The ‘Mean Girls’ Movie Musical Trailer, Release Date & Cast!

The trailer for Mean Girls, the movie musical has arrived and someone call Gretchen, because this is more than fetch!

Paramount has released the first clip, adapted from the 2018 Tony-nominated musical, which of course is based on the 2004 iconic comedy, starring Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert and Amanda Seyfried.

This one has an equally stellar cast with The Sex Lives of College Girls actor and musician Reneé Rapp starring as Regina George, who also portrayed the character on Broadway.

Senior Year’s Angourie Rice will play Cady Heron, the new kid at school who befriends the Plastics including Avantika Vandanapu as Karen Smith and Bebe Wood as Gretchen Wieners.

The Power star Auli’i Cravalho will play Janis Ian, and A Strange Loop’s Jaquel Spivey will play Damian, Cady’s real friends. And The Summer I Turned Pretty’s Christopher Briney has been cast as Cady’s crush, Aaron Samuels, who also happens to be Regina’s boyfriend.

Oh, there’s also Regina’s very memorable mother, who will be played by Busy Philipps. Plus, keep an eye out for Emily in Paris star Ashley Park (who, fun fact, played Gretchen in the Broadway production!) and TikTok star Chris Olsen.

What. A. Cast.

Tina Fey, who not only starred in the original movie as Ms. Norbury, but also wrote the screenplay and the stage musical, will reprise her role as the class teacher. Plus she returns as screenwriter and producer for the movie musical.

The big question is, when will the new Mean Girls movie be released?

Well, we don’t have to wait too long. While it had originally been slated for a streaming debut on Paramount+, plans have changed and it will be released in theatres instead. You can watch it from January 11, 2024 across Australia and January 12, in the US and beyond.
