Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is heading back to the Fast and Furious universe!
Universal Pictures has announced the actor will reprise his role as security service agent Luke Hobbs, leading a yet-to-be-titled spinoff.
The actor, who made a surprise cameo in the most recent Fast X film, also shared the news on his Instagram page: “I am 100% confirming to you guys around the world that yes, it is true. Hobbs is back!”
He adds that he’s been thrilled to see fan reactions to his appearance:
“It has been so incredible, personally gratifying and satisfying and humbling and exciting to see your reactions around the world… The messages I’ve gotten, the videos that I’ve seen in theatres all around the world and you guys erupting when Hobbs is revealed at the end, is like a rock concert all around the world.”
But what about that longstanding feud with Fast and Furious figurehead Vin Diesel, you may be wondering? The Rock, who first appeared in the franchise in Fast Five, addressed that too:

“Despite us having our differences me and Vin, we’ve been like brothers for years. Despite having our differences, we lead with the idea of, number 1, resolve, and also just thinking about the future and plans that are much bigger than ourselves,” he explains. “Those bigger plans are the North Star.”
Captioning the video, The Rock shared that they put their differences behind them last summer.
“We’ll lead with brotherhood and resolve – and always take care of the franchise, characters & FANS that we love.”
He also teased an exciting storyline between his character and Jason Momoa’s Dante:
“It’s not even unfinished business between Dante and Hobbs. It’s business is about pick up! Oh sh**!”
