Beetlejuice 2 (or Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice as it’s officially called), is heading to our screens soon, and we have a new trailer plus all the character posters!

The two-minute clip opens with Winona Ryder as her character Lydia Deetz luring us in: “Here’s a preview. Be warned. It’s intense.”

We learn “grandpa is dead” and that Jenna Ortega’s character, Astrid, is a rather stubborn teen who, despite being told not to say the name ‘Beetlejuice’ three times, says it anyway! And well, chaos ensues:

Besides the new Beetlejuice trailer, Warner Bros. as also shared two epic photos from the new film too. The first shows Michael Keaton reprising his iconic role in a striped black and white suit, complete with his signature wild hair and blackened eyes.

This is Jenna’s second time working with Tim as he was behind the hit Wednesday series on Netflix. A second season is on the way but we don’t have a release date for that one just yet.

Justin Theroux is playing Rory – though it’s not clear yet who Rory is exactly! Willem Dafoe, Monica Belluci and Arthur Conti will also be part of the film. Check out the character posters below:

What will Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice be about?

According to production notes from Warner Bros., we’re in for a wild ride:

“After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.”

In case you missed it, the original Beetlejuice film, a horror comedy classic, came out in 1988 and also starred Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis and Catherine O’Hara. It follows the story of a dead couple who are trying to scare away a family that has moved into their old home so they seek out an exorcist named… you guessed it, Beetlejuice!

When will Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice be released?

The movie will be out on September 5, 2024 in Australia (and September 6 elsewhere)
