When it comes to iconic collaborations, this may just be it…
Legendary musicians Dolly Parton, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan, Belinda Carlisle and Debbie Harry are releasing a new song together! *Insert ridiculously loud squeal*
It’s all thanks to Diane Warren who came up with the idea while writing the song “Gonna Be You” for the upcoming film, 80 for Brady.
According to a press release, Diane wanted to celebrate female friendship and what better way to do that than to call on the sisterhood?
“Since 80 was in the title, I got a crazy idea, why not get some of the most iconic singers from the 80s, who are still amazing and always will be, to all sing it?”
She adds, “Everyone I approached said yes and was just as excited as me!! I’m honoured to have Dolly Parton, Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan and Debbie Harry on this song!! ‘Gonna Be You’ is that song you want to sing along to with all your good friends!!!”
Confirming the news on Instagram, Belinda Carlisle who found fame with the Go-Gos (and of course went on to have a prolific career as a solo artist too) described the collab as an “honour”, adding that “this secret has been hard to keep.”
And it’s not just the film’s music with epic names attached to it – 80 for Brady (out on February 3) stars Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Rita Moreno, Sally Field and more! Check out the trailer below:
