Dolly Parton is celebrating her 77th trip around the sun and in true Dolly-style, instead of receiving on her birthday, she’s giving her millions of fans a gift!
The country music icon has announced she’s releasing a new song, titled “Don’t Make Me Come Down There.” In a video posted to social media, Dolly explains that the idea for the track came to her in a dream where she envisioned God watching everyone on Earth, disappointed at how we all treat each other:
“I had a dream about God standing on a mountain looking down at us, sayin’, ‘don’t make me have to come down there!’ And then it woke me up. I got up, I started writing this song over a period of weeks, months. I finished it as things would come to me, and I just felt like I should drop it on my birthday. So, I hope you enjoy it. ”
