Rihanna is officially back with new music!
The superstar has released ‘Lift Me Up’, the lead track from the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever movie. It was co-written with Tems as a tribute to the life and legacy of late actor Chadwick Boseman, who starred in the original film.
“After speaking with Ryan (Coogler, Director) and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life,” Tems shared in a statement (as per Variety).
“I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them. Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honour.”
Since her last album, Anti in 2016, RiRi has collaborated with various artists including N.E.R.D and Kendrick Lamar. But ‘Lift Me Up’ marks her first solo single in six years.
She’s also been busy expanding her Savage X Fenty lingerie and Fenty beauty empires, supporting environmental causes through her Clara and Lionel Foundation, and she welcomed her first child with partner A$AP Rocky in May.
Up next is her Savage X Fenty show Vol. 4 and then the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2023!
