John Cena Donates $500k to Help California Firefighters

By day, he plays an elite firefighter in upcoming flick Playing With Fire. By night, John Cena is doing his bit to help out some real firefighters.

The actor and wrestling superstar has announced that he’s donating US $500 thousand to support the work of both the LA and California fire departments.

“Right now California is in dire straits. It is burning,” he says in a video posted to Twitter.

“It is under siege of massive wildfires state-wide which means our first responders are working around the clock and they need our help.”

In times like this, when people are giving their lives and working around the clock, what they need from us is resources,” he continues in the video.

This is the right thing to do and I’m doing my part to help the cause.”

Tens of thousands of people have been displaced from their homes because of the wildfires and dozens of houses have been destroyed.
