Gwyneth Paltrow Shares Brief Statement After Winning Ski Crash Trial

An eight-day trial involving Gwyneth Paltrow has come to an end with the jury finding in favour of the Hollywood star.

The Oscar-winner and founder of lifestyle platform Goop, was being sued by retired optometrist Terry Sanderson over injuries he sustained when the two crashed on the slopes of Deer Valley ski resort in Utah. (In a very un-detailed, basic, nutshell, his lawyers put forward the argument that she crashed into him, whereas Gwyneth’s lawyers said he crashed into her.)

Sanderson had originally asked for $3 million in damages but that was reduced to $300,000 before the start of the trial.

After two hours and 20 minutes of deliberation, the jury found Gwyneth was not at fault and that Terry Sanderson was  “100 percent to blame”, awarding the actor damages of $1, as she’d requested from the beginning.

Posting to her Instagram stories after the decision, Gwyneth writes:

“I felt that acquiescing to a false claim compromised my integrity. I am pleased with the outcome and I appreciate all of the hard work of Judge Holmberg and the jury, and thank them for their thoughtfulness in handling this case.”

As per the The Guardian, Sanderson said the decision was “a real disappointment.”
