Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds Matching Up to $1M in Donations to UNHCR to Support People Fleeing Ukraine

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are using their platforms to highlight and support the work of the UNHCR, the United Nations Refugee Agency that’s providing urgent relief for thousands of people fleeing Ukraine following the Vladimir Putin-led Russian invasion of the country.

The Hollywood couple has announced they are matching $1,000,000 in donations to the humanitarian organisation:

“@vancityreynolds and I are doubling every dollar donated to @usaforunhcr up to $1,000,000,” Blake shared on Instagram.

“@usaforunhcr is on the ground helping the 50,000+ Ukrainians who had to flee their homes in less than 48 hours. @usaforunhcr is providing life saving aid, and also working with neighbouring countries to ensure protection for these families.”

According to the UNHCR’s website, “those fleeing for their lives need immediate shelter, protection and safety” and the agency is on the ground providing “emergency supplies, lifesaving care and protection.”

Some of those emergency supplies include mats to sleep on, tarps to shelter under, clean water and food. (Learn more about their work HERE.)

Blake and Ryan are among many famous faces taking action to support Ukrainian refugees –  chef José Andrés and his hunger relief charity are currently distributing thousands of meals at the Ukraine-Poland border while Real Housewives star Bethenny Frankel’s “BStrong” initiative is providing at least $10,000,000 worth of hygiene and survival packs to refugee bases near Ukraine.
