Mindy Kaling has scored her very first Vogue cover and of course, she looks spectacular!
But believe it or not, the actress, writer and producer almost turned down the opportunity.

Mindy says she had just given birth to her second child and wasn’t feeling confident enough to do the shoot:
“I was so excited to be asked to be on the cover of @VogueIndia’s December issue but seriously nervous because I would have to shoot it six weeks after giving birth to my son Spencer,” she posts on Instagram.
“I was not feeling body confident and even considered saying no.”

Fortunately, she was supported by a great team including photographer Katie Greenthal.
“And now I’m thrilled I have these photos as a memento of this very specific time in my life. ‘Post partum pandemic fabulous’ is what I like to call it.”
2020’s been a pretty special year for Mindy – She not only blessed us with the Netflix series Never Have I Ever starring Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, which is loosely based on her own childhood in Boston but she also gave birth to her second child right in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.
She managed to keep her entire pregnancy a secret from the media (respect!), breaking the news herself about a month after giving birth!
Add to that her first Vogue cover? What a year!
