Days after announcing Kaitlyn Dever would be joining The Last of Us Season 2, HBO has shared more casting news!
Actor Isabela Merced who is due to star in Madame Webb, is the latest recruit. She’ll portray Dina, “a free-wheeling spirit”, opposite show regulars Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal.
“Dina is warm, brilliant, wild, funny, moral, dangerous and instantly lovable,” series co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann said in a release (per Variety). “You can search forever for an actor who effortlessly embodies all of those things, or you can find Isabela Merced right away. We couldn’t be prouder to have her join our family.”
Isabela and Kaitlyn both starred in the 2022 film Rosaline together so this will be a reunion for the women!

Beef actor Young Mazino has also joined the cast as Jesse, “a pillar of his community” who always puts others first.
“Young is one of those rare actors who is immediately undeniable the moment you see him. We’re so lucky to have him, and we can’t wait for the audience to see Young shine in our show.”
The Last of Us is based on the hit PlayStation game of the same name and in Season 1, it follows the story of Joel (portrayed by Pedro), who is hired to smuggle 14-year-old girl Ellie (portrayed by Bella), out of a quarantine zone. The journey is brutal and both Joel and Ellie have to depend on each other to survive.
It has already won several awards, including Outstanding Guest Actor and Actress in a Drama Series for Nick Offerman and Storm Reid at the recent Creative Arts Emmys. It’s also nominated for Outstanding Drama Series at the Primetime Emmy Awards which will take place January 15, 2024 – and if the series wins, it’ll be the first live-action video game adaptation to do so! Both Bella and Pedro are also up for lead acting awards.
