The Kid LAROI Documentary: Release Date & More!

A documentary about global superstar and GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter The Kid LAROI is coming soon!

Amazon MGM Studios has announced the feature-length film, titled Kids Are Growing Up. It will chronicle the 20-year-old’s life and epic rise to stardom.

“Thank you to the incredible teams at OBB Pictures and Amazon MGM Studios for their support in sharing my story,” LAROI said. “I can’t wait for audiences to see this behind-the-scenes portrayal of my journey which perfectly encapsulates some of the most rewarding and challenging years of my life and career so far.”

LAROI famously competed in a local Aussie competition in 2016 where he made quite the impression on industry executives. He soon found himself on global stages alongside late rapper Juice WRLD and by 2018, had recorded his debut EP, 14 With A Dream.

What will Kids Are Growing Up be about?

Per a release, Kids Are Growing Up will “tell the intimate story of Charlton ‘The Kid LAROI’ Howard who went from an unknown musician living in Australia to a teenage global superstar selling out his hometown arena on back-to-back nights in just three years. The film captures a unique moment in time as LAROI enters adulthood, navigating the pressures of rapid fame, struggles with his mental health, first love and the tragic death of his mentor – the late, great Juice WRLD.”

Filming for the documentary began before the huge success of his single “Stay” and continued through his first world tour and studio album.

The release adds, “As LAROI is forced to deal with problems greater than his age, he searches for what happiness truly means, and how to handle outsized expectations from the public, those closest to him, and himself.”

“LAROI’s story is truly inspirational,” Michael D. Ratner of OBB Pictures said. “While he’s just 20-years-old, he’s managed to change his circumstances through his artistry and drive, while navigating anxiety, grief and a vareity of issues that his audience can relate to.”
