Netflix has confirmed Queen Charlotte will get her very own Bridgerton spinoff series – a prequel which follows her early years.
The new show will be written by the legendary Shonda Rhimes, and according to the streaming service, will also feature a young Violet Bridgerton and a young Lady Danbury.
Queen Charlotte, currently portrayed by 51-year-old actress Golda Rosheuvel, was not written into the Julia Quinn book series the show is based on, but she is a real historical figure.

She became Queen of Britain and Ireland after marrying King George III in 1761 and gave birth to 15 children. And there are a number of theories which claim she may’ve been the first Black British monarch too. So, a series following her youth? Yeah, it’s going to be good!
The original Bridgerton series has been renewed through to season four with each one focusing on the relationships of a different Bridgerton sibling.
