Chris Evans is sharing his gratitude after the trailer for Disney and Pixar’s Lightyear dropped this morning – revealing him as the voice of a young Buzz himself!
In a message posted to his 15.1 million followers on Twitter, he explains just how much the role means to him:
“Animated movie [sic] were an enormous part of my childhood. They were my escape. My adventures. My dreams. They were my first window into the magic of storytelling and performing,” he begins before thanking the creators which he says “doesn’t even come close” to how he feels about it all.
The star also attached an extract of a statement to his tweet, part of which reads:
“The phrase ‘a dream come true’ gets thrown around a lot, but I’ve never meant it more in my life. Anyone who knows me knows that my love for animated films runs deep. I can’t believe that I get to be a part of the Pixar family and work with these truly brilliant artists who tell stories unlike anyone else. Watching them work is nothing short of magic. I pinch myself every day.”
Lightyear tells the origin story of Buzz, the Space Ranger toy originally voiced by Tim Allen.
It’s due out next year! Check out the full trailer below:
