“This retrospective is a tribute to everyone whose lives were touched by this cultural phenomenon – from the talented cast and crew who poured their heart and souls into this extraordinary film franchise to the passionate fans who continue to keep the Wizarding World spirit alive 20 years later,” says Tom Ascheim, President of Warner Brothers Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics.
According to HBO Max, the special will not only see the cast return to the original sets of Hogwarts where they’ll take part in interviews and conversations about their time together two decades ago, but also celebrate the legacy of the franchise and “its indelible impact on the hearts, minds and imaginations of families and fans around the world.”

In a message posted on Instagram, Emma says she’s so grateful for her time with the cast and crew:
“Harry Potter was my home, my family, my world and Hermione (still is) my favourite fictional character of all time. I think a journalist one said it was irritating how many times during an interview I mentioned how lucky I was and started counting… BUT I DAMN WELL KNEW!!! And still know.”
Also taking part in the special will be Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Tom Felton, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman and many more.
The announcement coincides with the anniversary of the first film in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which premiered 20 years ago today.
