After 19 seasons on Grey’s Anatomy, Ellen Pompeo is officially saying goodbye – and as devastating as this is for those of us who have been there through the McDreamys, McSteamys and dance sessions with Dr. Cristina Yang, thankfully it won’t be the last we see of Dr. Meredith Grey forever.
Taking to Instagram, the actor shared her “immense gratitude” and appreciation for the show’s fans after it was revealed she would make her final appearance as a series regular on February 23, 2023.
“I am eternally grateful and humbled by the love and support you have all shown me, Meredith GREY and the show for 19 seasons!” she begins.
“Through it all… none of it… would have been possible without the best fans in the world. You all are RIDERS and you all have made the ride so fun and ICONIC!!”
Ellen adds, “I love you madly and appreciate you right back.”
As for what the future holds? Well, it’s hard to say but according to the actor, “the show must go on and I’ll definitely be back to visit.”
