Chrishell Stause is “Feeling Good” After Undergoing Surgery to Remove Ovarian Cyst

Chrishell Stause is sharing a health update with her fans.

The Selling Sunset star has revealed in a now-expired Instagram story, that she recently had an ovarian cyst removed. Sharing a selfie from her hospital bed, she captioned the photo:

“Had a minor surgery today and had a large ovarian cyst removed. Thank you Dr. Hakakha for taking such good care of me. Feeling good and being looked after by my 💜. If you have had bad unexplained cramps, don’t ignore it!”

According to the Mayo Clinic, ovarian cysts are “sacs, usually filled with fluid, in an ovary or on its surface.” They are common and most can go away without treatment – but sometimes they can become “twisted or burst open” which can cause serious symptoms, and when they’re very large they can cause intense pelvic pain and pressure.

Model and entrepreneur Hailey Bieber also opened up about having a large ovarian cyst removed in November last year, describing it as the “size of an apple.”

She said, it was “painful and achey” and made her feel nauseous, bloated and “crampy.”

Hailey and Chrishell are not alone – a 2016 study by the Cleveland Clinic shows up to 18% of women in the U.S. experience ovarian cysts. By speaking out, they’re helping de-stigmatise women’s health experiences.
