Madonna is recovering after being hospitalised for a bacterial infection.

According to her longtime manager Guy Oseary, the superstar had to be taken to the Intensive Care Unit:

“On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in the ICU. Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care,” he shared in a statement on social media. “A full recovery is expected.”

Guy adds that all of Madonna’s current commitments will be put on hold for now, including her worldwide Celebration Tour which was due to kick off on July 15 in Vancouver, Canada.

“We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and rescheduled shows,” Guy ended his message.

Madonna announced her tour in January this year with the help of some famous friends who took part in a “Truth or Dare” inspired video.

“Madonna, I dare you to do a world tour and play your greatest motherf—ing hits,” Amy Schumer says in the clip, to which Madonna, of course, agrees!

“I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for,” Madonna said in a press release about the tour.

Also per the release, the tour will showcase “Madonna’s artistic journey through four decades and pays respect to the city of New York where her career in music began.”
