Shawn Mendes is Taking Some Time Out to Focus on his Mental Health

Shawn Mendes is making his mental health a priority – and we love to see it, because really, is there anything more important than looking after ourselves?

The singer who is currently on his “Wonder” world tour, has announced he’s postponing the next three weeks of shows through Uncasville, Connecticut and while it’s been a “heartbreaking” decision, it’s something he needs to do:

“I’ve been touring since I was 15 and to be honest it’s always been difficult to be on the road away from friends and family,” he writes in an Instagram post.

“After a few years off the road, I felt like I was ready to dive back in, but that decision was premature and unfortunately the toll of the road and the pressure has caught up to me and I’ve hit a breaking point.”

Shawn adds that after speaking to health professionals and with his team, he’s decided to “take some time to heal and take care of myself and my mental health, first and foremost.”

He ends his message: “As soon as there are more updates I promise I will let you know. Love you guys.”

Shawn released his “Wonder” album in December 2020 and began his world tour in June this year. He has concerts across the U.S. until October this year, then the U.K. and Europe in 2023.
