3 Questions With ‘Never Have I Ever’ Actress Lily D. Moore: “I Am a Lot Like Rebecca”

When it comes to Lily D. Moore, one thing is for sure: she is unstoppable.

The 19-year-old who has her sights set on becoming the first actress with Down syndrome to win an Oscar, made audiences around the world fall in love with her sass and ‘tude playing Rebecca Hall-Yoshida in the hit Netflix series Never Have I Ever. She’s also the lead in Hallmark rom-com Colour My World with Love and is working alongside Lea DeLaria in the upcoming comedy Holy Irresistible.

But acting isn’t her only love. Lily is a model, an advocate for the homeless and people with disabilities and on top of it all, she’s heading to Clemson University soon to pursue a degree in healthcare.

1. You do such a phenomenal job of portraying the confident, creative and sassy Rebecca on Never Have I Ever – is the real Lily anything like her?

Lily: Thank you! Yes, I am a lot like Rebecca. I don’t let people push me around and I stand up for myself. I also tell people when they are wrong even if they don’t like it. I also follow my dreams and don’t take ‘No’ for an answer when someone tells me I can’t do it!

2. What has been your favourite moment on the set of Never Have I Ever so far?

Lily: Definitely hanging out with the cast. They are all so friendly. We have fun talking and joking around. I also love the wardrobe. My outfits are amazing!

3. Congratulations on landing the lead role in Hallmark’s Colour My World with Love – what can you tell us about the film?

Lily: It’s a story of a person with Down syndrome falling in love and her mum having a hard time letting her grow up. So, me and my mum have struggles but we love each other and are close so we work together to figure out me growing up and falling in love! I believe everyone has a story to paint with endless possibilities. Maybe it’s going to college, working, travelling the world or even getting married. You have a dream and you can do it.
