Blake Lively & Justin Baldoni to Portray Lily & Ryle in ‘It Ends With Us’

We’ve been waiting (rather impatiently) to find out who would be taking on the roles of Lily Bloom and Ryle Kincaid in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s hugely popular novel It Ends With Us…. and now we have our answer…

In a heartfelt video posted to social media, Colleen has announced that Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni will portray the leads and honestly, we can’t think of a better duo!

“She’s my dream Lily,” Colleen says of Blake.

“And then when I first met Justin Baldoni who’s directing the film It Ends With Us, I immediately wanted him to be Ryle. I think Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively have what it takes to bring these characters to life and I cannot wait for you to see them make that happen.”

The novel, which follows the story of Lily’s relationship with Ryle and her old friend Atlas, while exploring themes of domestic violence, was optioned by Justin and his Wayfarer Studios back in 2019. And social media has been buzzing – like, seriously buzzing – with questions about who might be cast ever since.

No word on who will be playing Atlas in the film just yet, but stay tuned!

Blake, who is expecting her fourth child with husband Ryan Reynolds, is also due to reprise her role in the upcoming sequel to A Simple Favour. She’ll be making her feature film directorial debut with the adaptation of Seconds, the graphic novel by Bryan Lee O’Malley and she’s running her Betty Buzz non-alcoholic drinks line amongst her various philanthropic ventures.

Justin, who has been behind the films Clouds and Five Feet Apart, and who we all fell in love with as Rafael Solano on Jane The Virgin, is currently hosting the popular Man Enough podcast and is the author of two books, Man Enough: Undefining My Masculinity and Boys Will Be Human.
