Coldplay Announces Eco-Friendly World Tour Where Fans Generate Power By Dancing!

Coldplay has announced their 2022 Music of the Spheres World Tour and they’re promising to make it as eco-friendly as possible.

The band, who pledged back in 2019 that they wouldn’t be touring until they could figure out a way to do it more sustainably, have shared a 12-point plan on ways they aim to cut their carbon footprint.

It includes installing kinetic flooring so that dancing fans can help generate power, installing solar tiles on the buildings of stadiums, planting a tree for every ticket sold and using electric vehicles, wherever possible, to travel between shows.

“…We’re very conscious that the planet is facing a climate crisis. So we’ve spent the last two years consulting with environmental experts to make this tour as sustainable as possible,” a statement from the band reads.

“We won’t get everything right, but we’re committed to doing everything we can and sharing what we learn. It’s a work in progress and we’re really grateful for the help we’ve had so far.”

In an interview with the BBC, Chris Martin admits that they’ll still be using private jets to travel between countries, which obviously isn’t ideal:

“We’re trying our best and we haven’t got it perfect… And the people that give us backlash for that kind of thing, for flying, they’re right. So we don’t have any argument against that.”

The Music of the Spheres tour was announced a day ahead of the release of their new album of the same name.

It kicks off in March!
