There’s a life-sized, chocolate sculpture of Russell Crowe in Malta – and he is, understandably, rather chuffed about it!
On Friday, the actor shared an image of his Gladiator character Maximus, entirely made from chocolate. It was created by artist Tiziano Cassar for a famous festival in the country, who also showcased a life-sized, chocolate Mickey Mouse sculpture too.
“Some people get statues made of bronze. Some in marble,” Russell posted on X.
“In Malta, they have made me out of…. chocolate!!! This weekend in beautiful Malta is the world famous Hamrun Chocolate festival. The artist is Tiziano Cassar.”
Russell jokingly added, “when the competition is over, I will be available to eat.”

According to a post shared by Tiziano on his Facebook page, the life-sized sculpture took many hours of planning, hard work and determination but he was thrilled to see Russell had shared an image of the artwork on his platform:
“Honoured to be acknowledged by the actor himself.”
Russell starred in the epic Gladiator film in the year 2000 opposite Joaquin Phoenix and Connie Nielsen. He won the Oscar the following year for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
A new version of the film starring Normal People actor Paul Mescal is currently in the works, though production has stalled due to the ongoing actors’ strike. Denzel Washington and Pedro Pascal will also be taking part. It is expected to be released in late 2024.
